Back to School

The kids are just settling into their back to school routines, but we’ve been learning all summer! We’re focused on keeping our skills in tip-top shape, as well as learning all the latest trends and fashions in the hair and beauty industries. When we’re at the top of the class, our clients benefit! Read on for some of the recent classes and other educational experiences our stylists were involved in.

Nick Arrojo: Happy Mondays

Stylists Vicki, Kelly, and Christine recently attended a seminar hosted by Educator and Celebrity Stylist Nick Arrojo (yes, the one from TLC’s What Not to Wear)! Nick taught cutting, color, and his own American Wave texture perm technique as part of his “Happy Mondays” education series. Some of our stylists will be attending a training and certification for the American Wave perm, so stay tuned!

Men’s Haircutting with Josh Wagner

Associate Stylist Jill M. attended this intensive men’s cutting class at Wella World Studio NYC. Taught by Wella Educator and longtime Barber Josh Wagner, the 2-day course focused on modern men’s cuts, with a solid foundation in classic techniques. Some of these techniques included classic and modern fading techniques, sheer over comb, blade work and razor styling. John demonstrated 6 modern men’s haircuts, then the stylists showcased their skills on models.

Cheri’s Clipper Class

Our own Senior Stylist Cheri C. recently taught a men’s clipper cutting class right here at INTERLOCKS. She focused on demonstrating her approach to fading, shaping up hairlines, and other techniques that have garnered her a loyal male haircut clientele. Stylists then showcased their skills on their own models, with terrific results!

Color Craft: Color Correction

Color correction can be one of the trickiest aspects of hair coloring, so we make sure our stylists are well-educated and practiced before they offer the service at INTERLOCKS. Associate Stylist Chelsi B. attended Color Craft: Color Correction at Wella World Studio NYC for further education and hands-on practice. The 2-day course helps develop skills like identifying the cause of color correction, determining techniques for color balancing and filling, color removal processes, and the many methods available to achieve the desired result.
