09 Sep Educate Me
Here at Interlocks, we stress the importance of education. Our service providers are given multiple opportunities throughout the year for professional growth. We offer in-house trainings with educational teams representing a specific product line; we host Guest Artist Events as part of our ongoing commitment to education; we attend trade show classes taught by leading professionals in the U.S.; and we even travel abroad to such venues as London and Milan to learn from premiere educators.
Advanced education is not just something we emphasize, rather it’s a cornerstone of our business philosophy. With that in mind, we are thrilled to announce a new staff achievement!
Recently, Wella selected Interlocks Associate Stylist Christine Soucy as a Professional Training Specialist. After choosing her as one of its new 2013 Educators, Wella invited Christine to attend the Wella Connect 2013 Show in Las Vegas. This invitation-only show and training allowed Christine to meet about 30 of her Boston-area peers, as well as hundreds of other professionals from around the country.
During the three-day, invitation-only training, Christine attended a color class that showcased new Wella color products launching in the Fall. She also attended a cutting class taught by industry notable Nick Berardi. Christine says that this class provided her with many “Ah ha” moments. She explains, “These cuts were about precision, and learning from Berardi was a great lesson in why it is important to continually check your own body position, as well as that of the client.” For Christine, the show’s highlight came early on Day 2, when she attended a class taught by Christopher Dove, whom Christine describes as “phenomenal.” She adds, “He has long been one of my idols. To be able to learn from him was an opportunity of a lifetime.”
The Wella Connect show was just one of three that Christine attended during her week in Las Vegas. She also saw the Wella Trend Vision Show and attended the Cosmoprof North America Show with INTERLOCKS Owner/Creative Director Ginny Eramo.
Christine says her educational experience was inspirational. “It was amazing to meet people that I have seen in magazines,” she says. “These are our industry stars! To have the opportunity to interact with them and work with them as peers, it was just a remarkable experience.”
For Christine, the advanced education permits her to represent Wella across the country in a teaching capacity. Her INTERLOCKS clients benefit as well since she’s able to share her first-hand knowledge from the Wella professional trainings. Additionally, INTERLOCKS enjoys exclusive access to Wella’s new products, techniques, and color treatments before reaching a broader market. “My clients are so excited!” Christine says. “I’m really looking forward to keeping them informed with new trends.”
