Goldwell Blonding Class

On November 15, INTERLOCKS shut down for a full day of advanced salon education on blonding. We were very happy to welcome Goldwell Brand Artistic Director Rebecca Hiele into our space to share her wealth of knowledge on the topic.

We may not be able to answer the age-old question “do blondes have more fun?” — but we know that we have LOTS of fun learning advanced techniques for blonding, to provide the highest-quality services to our clients. Read on to learn more about Rebecca, and our stylists’ thoughts on this educational experience!

P.S. — if you’d like to join a supportive, collaborative, fun, and education-obsessed salon team (or you know somebody who would), we’re hiring! Apply now →

Master Stylist Melissa C: Rebecca was amazing! Lots of info on products we have and now I have more knowledge on how to use them with more options. Also placement.

Associate Stylist Camille P: Great experience! I learned a lot of new ways to formulate and make a more customizable blonde.

Master Stylist Tanya P: Adding brightness around the face in a new way and approach, plus some new formulas to definitely try out.

Associate Stylist Nicole D: I learned that there are different ways to achieve a lightened look without using lightener all the time

Senior Stylist Chelsi M: All of her different toning formulas will come in handy, using all of our tools that we have available to us and how, thinking of every color as a slight correction, and much more

Master Stylist Andrea R: New ways to mix to have more options.

Senior Stylist Stacey D: I played more with the New Blonde which I will be using a lot more, and new sections for foiling around the hairline!

Master Stylist Melissa C: Skills as far as placement and balayage. Knowledge on our 11 and 12 series and pure pigments. All will be used!

Associate Stylist Camille P: I loved learning new techniques on foil placement and different ways to achieve a blonde using different forms of lightener, bonding cream and highlift.

CURRENT TRENDS IN HAIRCOLOR

Master Stylist Michelle A: Baby lights, bayalage, root-smudging with highlights

Master Stylist Tanya P: Multi-dimensional haircolor

Associate Stylist Camille P: The current trend in blonding is bayalage and creating a lived-in look.

Senior Stylist Stacey D: I would say a mix between balayage and foiling. Also, doing several different techniques on one client!

Senior Stylist Chelsi M: Balayage, ashy blondes, little pops of rosy pinks

Master Stylist Kelly S: Balayage is still big, and well as placement and creating tone-on-tone and seamless color.

Salon Apprentice Leslie G: Seamless balayage and babylights

Master Stylist Andrea R: Most blonding trends right now are seamless blondes, blending and melting.

Associate Stylist Nicole D: A seamless balayage/foilayage or a chunkier highlight

Master Stylist Melissa C: Root melting into blondes and baby lights and balayage

Master Stylist Christine R: Money piece placement & balayage. Rich browns and taupes are trending
