07 Sep Ways to Help Sun Damage
Did you know that an estimated 90 percent of visible skin aging is caused by the sun? Sun damage can lead to wrinkles, brown spots, uneven skin tone, leathery skin, and more. “Sun damage breaks down collagen and elastin, contributing to extrinsic aging,” says Maria Gagliardi, Clinical Aesthetician and Nurse Injector for our MedSpa.
But don’t worry, there are ways to help sun damage and keep your skin looking beautiful, radiant, and youthful. Read on for more information, then book a complimentary consultation to see how we can help you!
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Sun damage is cumulative, so we should try to prevent future damage by avoiding burning and tanning. Applying sunscreen is one very easy way to block UV rays — even after summer is over. We carry a wide range of SPF products, including many from the fantastic sun care/skincare line Supergoop. We love the options for everyday sunscreens below, but we also carry SPF eye cream, lip screen, and a lovely rosemary mint setting mist.

Antioxidant-Infused Sunscreen Mist with Vitamin C SPF 30 and 50

It’s important to note that besides premature aging, exposure to UV rays — from the sun or tanning beds — is the leading cause of skin cancer. Read more on our blog about preventing skin cancer.
Spend up to 30 minutes with an Aesthetician to examine your current skin health and map the best course to achieve goals. You will receive a prescription for clinical skincare and a treatment plan for future services which may include Environ® facials, peels, and laser skin therapies.
The products in our new line Environ all contain a skin friendly, fat soluble vitamin A that helps to protect skin from sun damage, as well as increase cellular turnover with regular use, to reveal healthy glowing skin.
Environ offers a step up program that slowly but effectively allows your skin to become accustomed to Vitamin A. As you step up in the program the percentage of vitamin A is increased, which will help even out skin tone.
IPL (intense pulsed light) treatments can pull pigment to the surface to even out skin tone. IPL can also help with redness, broken capillaries, and some hair removal. Results can take multiple treatments in combination with proper professional products, which your aesthetician can help prescribe. All of our aestheticians are IPL Laser Certified.
Laser Genesis™ is a painless treatment that stimulates collagen, and decreases the appearance of pore size and fine lines. “Almost everyone can benefit from this treatment,” says Nicole Hupfer, Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified Laser Technician, and Clinical Aesthetician. This service will be available with Nicole as well as Maria.
There’s no magic shot to reverse sun damage, but you can potentially treat signs of aging and rejuvenate your appearance with injectables. Botox is often used for frown lines, forehead and crows feet, while fillers can smooth and lift areas of the lower face. Injectables will be available with our Nurse Injector, Maria.
